Bare Feet Retreat is a small unique upmarket B&B situated in the neighbourhood of Freeland Park, Scottburgh. The B&B offers a spectacular view from the swimming pool area over the warm Indian Ocean and Aliwal Shoal (one of the top 10 best dive sites in the world). Within 5 minutes travelling distance you will find the main beach of Scottburgh as well as several shops and restaurants
Bare Feet Retreat is set in a tropical garden offering secluded accommodation, high personal service and eye for detail. An ideal holiday destination for divers, mountain bikers, and golfers, but also perfect for those that like nature or the peace and quiet of the beach and its surroundings.
We offer breakfast and meals of the day. The food we serve is grown locally or in South Africa, in season, sustainable and fresh. We can cater for every dietary requirement except Kosher.
Business clients
Our location makes the B&B very interesting for business clients. We are situated in a quiet location, there is 24/7 free WIFI and we are flexible in breakfast hours. Within a 3-minute drive you are on the N2 via the Dududu/Scottburgh off ramp. The charming seaside town of Scottburgh is just a 45 minutes’ drive from Durban, along the picturesque KwaZulu Natal South Coast.

Bare Feet Retreat offers 3 luxurious modern rooms, two double rooms (max 2 people) and one family/friend room (max 4 people) all with a court yard view. The interior of the rooms is inspired by the colours of the sea. All rooms have comfortable extra length beds with luxury linen, a wardrobe, fridge, flat screen tv (Netflix connection) coffee and tea facilities, safe, and fan.

Excursions
uShaka Marine World
The world class uShaka Marine World, situated in Durban, South Africa, opened in 2004. uShaka has fast positioned itself as a key attraction on Durban’s Golden Mile, offering a world of entertainment, excitement and fun. Visit Sea World the biggest aquarium of South Africa, Wet ‘n Wild waterpark, and uShaka Beach, or the Village Walk with its shops and restaurants.
Mountain biking and trail running
At Rocky Bay Resorts, which is an 8 km drive from Bare Feet Retreat you can find Mountain Bike and running trails. The bike trails consist of an 9, 12km, 19km and then the more challenging 40km trail. As for the running trails, there are 4km, 6km, 8km and 10km options. All trails are well marked and scenic.
Mountain bikers can also head to Oribi Gorge to follow the scenic single tracks, meandering along the top of the gorge.
Lake Eland Game Reserve
Covering an impressive 2500 hectares with diverse ecosystems of bushveld, grassland, coastal forest and wetland this natural landscape offers a place of peace and tranquility. Activities to choose from include a self-game drive, viewing the abundant wild life and flora to be seen from the comfort of your car. In addition, guests can walk across an 80m suspension bridge, ride horses and slide down their fabulous Zip Line or enjoy a 5km guided tour on a non-motorized scooter.
Phezulu village
At Phezulu village, the world famous Gasa clan takes visitors into traditional beehive shaped thatched huts, where the various artifacts, beliefs and rituals are explained, giving foreigners an insight into the fascinating Zulu culture. The Zulu dancing show is impressive with the dancers in their traditional garb, showing off their skills with grace, agility and humor.
Phezulu also offers a Crocodile and Snake park where guests will be taken on a tour by knowledgeable guides. They will learn interesting facts about crocodiles and snakes. Tickets include entrance to both the cultural Zulu village tour and show and the crocodile and snake park.
Terms & Conditions
A deposit of 50% of all total nights spent at our accommodation will be necessary to guarantee your reservation. The balance must be paid 2 weeks prior to arrival at our accommodation. Additional costs will be settled on the day of departure. Cancellations 2 weeks of date of arrival at the accommodation will incur a loss of 50% of the deposit held.
